Custom fields and websites

Extra details for products, categories, manufacturers, customers and orders, and which website shows what.

Custom fields keep the details your business needs that Coready has no field for — a suit's fabric, a category's season, a customer's loyalty card, an order's delivery slot. Each field belongs to one kind of record, and every record of that kind gets it.

Creating a field

Open Settings → Custom fields, choose Add custom field, give it a name, a type and the kind of record it belongs to. The kind cannot be changed later — create a new field instead.

TypeHolds
Text (one line)A short text: a code, a composition
Text (several lines)Longer text: care instructions
Whole number3, 120
Number1.5, 0.25
Yes / no"Bestseller", "New in"
Date and timeA declaration date
LinkAn address starting with https://
List (one choice)One value from a list you keep: a colour, a fit
List (several choices)Several values from the list: styles, seasons

For a list, open the field and add its values. Required makes every record of that kind need a value before it can be saved. The filter above the table shows one kind's fields at a time.

A module that keeps your catalog in step with another system — an inventory system, say — can fill custom fields too. It creates the ones it needs when you set it up, and you can rename them.

Which website shows what

When your company has more than one website, every product, category and manufacturer has a Websites section with a Show on box per website. Everything shows on every website until you untick it:

  • untick a product to leave it out of that website;
  • untick a category to leave out the category, every category under it and their products;
  • untick a manufacturer to leave out all of its products.

A product left out is missing from the website's catalog, search, sitemap and category pages, and its own page is not found there. Other websites are not affected. A new website starts with the whole catalog.
