Matrix option type

The Matrix option type lets one option stand for a combination of two others. A Matrix option "Size and colour" has values like "M / Red" and "L / Blue", each pairing a size with a colour — so a customer picks one value and you keep one stock line per pair.

Creating a Matrix option

Create an option and choose the type Matrix. Pick the two options it combines — the axes, for example Size and Colour — and save. Then add the pairs you sell under Matrix values: choose a value of each axis and add the pair.

Using it on products

Attach the Matrix option to a product like any other option, then attach the pairs that product comes in. Your shop shows them as one choice and prices them like any option value.

The module cannot be turned off while Matrix options exist, because nothing else could edit them. Delete them first, or turn the module off with delete data, which removes the Matrix options and their pairs from your products.
